Leaders of the Democratic National Committee are moving swiftly to confirm President Biden as his party’s presidential nominee by the end of July, according to four people briefed on the matter who insisted on anonymity to discuss the sensitive deliberations. - Lisa Lerer, Reid J. Joe Biden has run out of political capital. His party worries that Joe can not defeat Donald Trump. House and Senate members are lining up against him. This is a partial list of legislators who want Biden to step down:
Raul Grijalva of Arizona
Seth Moulton of Massachusetts
Mike Quigley of Illinois
Angie Craig of Minnesota
Adam Smith of Washington
Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey
Pat Ryan of New York
Earl Blumenauer of Oregon
Hillary Scholten of Michigan
Brad Schneider of Illinois
Ed Case of Hawaii
Greg Stanton of Arizona
Jim Himes of Connecticut
Scott Peters of California
Eric Sorensen of Illinois
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington state
Mike Levin of California
Brittany Pettersen of Colorado
Jim Costa of California
Sean Casten of Illinois
Jared Huffman of California
Marc Veasey of Texas
Chuy Garcia of Illinois
Mark Pocan of Wisconsin
Greg Landsman of Ohio
Zoe Lofgren of California 1.
Leaders in the Party are asking Biden to step down, including Chuck Schummer, Nancy Pelosi, Hakeem Jefferies, John Tester, and Adam Schiff. Others who want Joe out are George Clooney, Abigale Disney, Marianne Williamson, Ex-Ohio Congressman Tim Ryon, and Julian Castro, former housing secretary.
The powerful Congressional Black Caucus, which represents about one quarter of House Democrats, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus have recently reaffirmed their backing for Mr Biden.
More than 1,400 black women backing the Biden-Harris ticket, including former DNC chairwoman Donna Brazile and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, wrote an open letter to reiterate their support.
Also standing by Mr Biden, and enthusiastically so, are outspoken figures on the Hill such as two-time presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Minnesota firebrand Ilhan Omar, and John Fetterman, a Pennsylvania senator. 2.
Many supporters want him to resign, but, and that is big but, what if he does?
Let's have a look at the prospects of Joe Staying in or out of the race.
Joe Biden has 99% of the votes to nominate him to be the Democrat nominee for president. With that goes the donations to the DNC. You can't win an election without money and Joe has a lot of it. If Biden does drop out, the money goes to the Vice Presidential nominee, and that would be Kamala Harris. The donors and most of the party do not want Joe to run because they feel he will lose to Donald Trump
Let's say Joe drops out and Kamala Harris becomes the default nominee for the Democrats. Kamala is polling worse than Biden, and this is a big concern for Democrats. Few in the party like her or get along with her. Harris can not work well with her staff and many have left. What would Kamala be like negotiating with foreign leaders? Most of the public has seen Harris speak and they are not comfortable with her ability to communicate. There have been times when I wondered what the hell she was talking about. The words, "I love a yellow school bus" do not inspire me to vote for Kamala as president and it gets worse when you understand she means an electric school bus.
Many believe that if Kamala is kicked to the curb, there will be hell to pay for rejecting the first black woman who could run for president. The Democrats could lose the black vote which would end in disaster. The loss of this constituency might be for generations, hence the end of the Democrat Party.
If Joe and Kamala are swept away, who is available? In no special order, here are some possibilities:
Gavin Newsome - Governor of California
Gretchen Whitmer - Governor of Michigan
Pete Buttigieg - Secretary of Transportation
Josh Shapiro - Governor of Pennsylvania
To my conservative outlook, none of these possible candidates can beat Trump. None of them have what it takes to lead a political party to victory let alone govern our republic so it can thrive and be the leader of the world. As I see it we would be driven further into debt and inflation would go even higher with any one of them.
Joe will hang on as long as he can. He has the best chance of being the Democrat nominee and he is stubborn enough to keep his grip on power. If he quits Hunter will go to jail and the influence peddling with Russia, China, and Ukraine will hound Joe until he dies fighting indictments. I do not think the Democrats can make Joe a deal he can't refuse. However, what if they do? Who will be the Democrat pick that will not piss off the Kamala supporters?
I predicted this two years ago and I still think this is the only chance the Democrats have to
hold on to their party and their power. Michelle Obama is their only chance of cutting in line in front of Kamala and possibly winning the election...plus making it easier to win downline elections to the House and Senate.
Yes, I know the Demo news hype that Michelle does not want to be in politics, and she dislikes living in the Whitehouse. Michelle is used to living in grand style and does not want to give it up. Blah, Blah, Blah! Did I mention that she and her husband hate Donald Trump? This is a big motivator. Michelle could let Barrak handle the day-to-day stuff and just show up now and then for show. Still, I think Michelle will want to be involved more than just a figurehead. This could work out for the Democrats and do not be surprised if this is the plan that saves the Democrat Party.
